What Search Console actually is

Google Search Console is a free Google service for website owners and managers. It provides information about how Google Search interacts with a site: whether Google can discover important URLs, which pages are indexed, what search queries are generating impressions, and whether Google has reported certain technical or usability issues. It is a diagnostic and measurement tool, not a switch that turns SEO on.

A website can work without it

A website does not need Search Console in order to load, accept forms, or be available on the web. Google can also discover public pages through links and normal crawling without a Search Console account. The reason to set it up is visibility. Without it, a business has much less direct information about what Google is seeing and how the site is appearing in Google Search.

What it helps you check

Search Console can help confirm ownership, submit or review a sitemap, inspect individual URLs, see indexing status, review search performance, and investigate certain reported problems. What it does not do

Submitting a sitemap or requesting indexing does not guarantee that Google will index a page, rank it highly, or send traffic. Search Console reports information and provides tools; it does not bypass Google’s search systems. Rankings still depend on relevance, competition, content, authority, technical quality, location and many other factors.
